SAN FRANCISCO, September 11, (THEWILL) – At least two explosions Friday morning hit an internally displaced persons camp in Yola, Adamawa State, killing at least seven persons and leaving about a dozen injured, the Borno State Government said after the incident.
The blasts, the first in such camps, occurred at the Malhoki camp where some of those displaced by the six-year-old Boko Haram insurgency are being accommodated.
Witnesses at the camp said two female suicide bombers orchestrated the attacks at the camp where soldiers provide tight security at the gates and carry out searches on passengers and vehicles entering it.
The spokesman of the government and commissioner of information, Comrade Ahmed Sajoh, told journalists that 13 others wounded included four officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) that administer the camp. One of those killed was a toddler, according to the witnesses.
