BEVERLY HILLS, February 14, (THEWILL) – The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has appeared before the Senate Panel Investigating the killings by herders in Benue state.

The Governor, who has indicted the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Ibrahim Idris, over his alleged culpability in the security crisis in the state, appeared before the joint Senate Committee on Police Affairs; and National Security and Intelligence, on Wednesday.
THEWILL recalls that the Committee, last week Tuesday, presented a report of its investigations into the failure of the IGP to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators of the January killings in Benue State stating that the IG informed them of the arrest of 145 people.

However, the Senate rejected the report, presented by the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Abu Ibrahim, for failing to speak with the Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, to get his own side of the security issues in the state.

The Senate refused to consider the report, instructing the committee to speak with the state governor and report back in one week.
