Benue Assembly Lifts Suspension On Two Members, Withheld Two

December 08, (THEWILL) – Benue State House of Assembly has lifted the suspension on two out of the four members, who were Suspended on Tuesday’s plenary, this week.

The decision to that effect was taken on Friday, session when Isaac of Ohimini State Constituency, moved a motion, calling on members to reconsider their earlier decision.

He argued that their suspension and absence would negatively affect their constituents and call for a show of mercy.

Seconding the motion, Ochikyilie and Abu Umoru, from Agatu Constituency, have also thrown theirs behind.

Other members including Simon Gabo of Mata and Manger of Tarka Constituencies said, as advocates of togetherness, appealed to the house to reverse the three-month suspension placed members.

Ruling on the motion, the Speaker, Hon. Hyacinth Dajo explained that two suspended members, Anthony Agom (PDP) from Okpokwu and Solomon Gyila (PDP) Gwer West, had shown remorse while Douglas Akya (APC) and Rt. Hon. Cephas Dyako (LP) are adamant.

In a voice vote, the house resolved to lift the suspension on Anthony Agom and Solomon Gyila and turned down that of Akya and Dyako, till further notice.
