January 31, (THEWILL) – Rodrigo Bentancur has joined Tottenham on a permanent basis, while Dejan Kulusevski has joined on a long-term loan from Juventus, as confirmed on Transfer Deadline Monday.
THEWILL recalls that Bentancur, a Uruguayan international, joined the Old Lady in 2019 and has since played 181 games in Juve’s colours.
The club announced that a €19 million fee had been agreed upon for Bentancur, with a further €4 million contingent on Spurs agreeing to certain terms. He was linked with a move to Aston Villa earlier this season, but will instead join Tottenham to work with Antonio Conte, who was looking to enhance his team after coming in the middle of the season.
Spurs revealed that the player had agreed to a contract with the north London side until 2026.
The club subsequently announced another acquisition from Juventus, with Kulusevski, a 21-year-old Swedish international forward, entering on an 18-month loan with a purchase option. Kulusevski joined Juventus from Atalanta in 2020 following a successful loan spell with Parma.
Juventus are also expected to loan Aaron Ramsey to Rangers for the remainder of the season, while Tottenham have confirmed Tanguy Ndombele’s return to Lyon on loan, as THEWILL reported.
