October 04, (THEWILL) – A thoroughly entertaining UEFA Champions League clash between Napoli and Real Madrid, at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Tuesday night, finished 3-2 in favour of the visitors. Goals from Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior and an own goal gave Madrid the victory.
Madrid started the match strongest and Bellingham came close to opening the scoring after playing a superb through ball to Rodrygo. However, it was Napoli who shockingly took the lead despite being dominated early on. A calamitous error from Madrid keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga allowed Leo Ostigard to nod home after a corner kick.
Madrid soon equalised through Vinicius Junior. Bellingham latched onto a loose pass before sliding the ball to Vini on the left. He beautifully curled it into the far corner. Bellingham then danced past Ostigard and found the net himself to give Madrid the lead before half-time.
Napoli came out fighting after the break. Piotr Zielinski scored a penalty after a VAR review for handball to make it 2-2. Napoli went close through Zielinski and Kvaratskhelia before Federico Valverde rifled in from 25 yards. His powerful shot went in off keeper Alex Meret to restore Madrid’s lead.
In the end, Bellingham’s brilliance proved the difference with most of Victor Osimhen’s chances coming to naught. Bellingham’s goal and assist were instrumental in this crucial away victory for Madrid, leaving them on top of Group C after matchday two.
