August 28, (THEWILL) – The Rector, Nigerian Army College of Environmental Science and Technology (NACEST), Makurdi, Major General Umar Babangida, has advised National Youth Service Corps members to be security conscious and avoid actions that can endanger their lives.
Represented by the Registrar, Lt Col. S.O Job, at a one-day workshop for Corp members, he described the workshop as apt and timely given the current situation in the country.
General Babangida noted that the workshop would equip corp members to be more alert to risks and security challenges within their neighbourhoods, pointing out that security is not a one-man show but something that needs the collaboration of all.
In his remarks, the Commandant of the NASME barracks, Major General A.G. Audu, commended the National Youth Corp members for organising the event, pointing out that the importance of security cannot be over-emphasised.
Earlier, the Liaison Officer, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Nigerian Army School of Military Engineering (NASME) Makurdi, Mr Uchendu Ezemsinachi, also advised Corp members to be security conscious.
He said if they take their security issues seriously, it would help them in the precarious security situation in Benue State and the country at large.
According to Ezemsinachi, the workshop aims to inculcate financial, food and juvenile security tips to the corps members, as well as strengthen their defence mechanisms, and refine their strategies and innovative approaches to wade off and combat unpleasant situations.
He also thanked the NYSC for being at the forefront of playing an integral role in ensuring the safety and community development of the nation.
