August 28, (THEWILL) – The Assistant Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, Mr. Amadein Tibiebi, has been arrested for alleged illegal possession of firearms.

It was gathered that Tibiebi, a self-styled general and former militant, is currently undergoing interrogation at a police station under the state Command.

His arrest is a follow-up to a November 2021 incident in which one Richard Okon was arrested for alleged illegal possession of a firearm at a wake-keep ceremony at Koluama community in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

In a confessional video, Okon claimed that the gun he was caught with belonged to Tibiebi, who he was working with. He is the nephew and Chief Security Officer to Senator Cleopas Moses who represented Bayelsa Central Senatorial District in the 9th Senate.

Tibiebi was previously invited by the police but he reportedly presented fake licenses and forged documents and was released due to his connections.

However, a fresh petition to the police led to his current arrest and he is being interrogated for alleged illegal possession of firearms and forgery of firearm licenses.

“Mr Tibiebi was brought in for questioning following allegations of illegal possession of firearms, fake licence and forgery after which he is to be arraigned before the court soon. This is a serious offence under the law,” a source privy to the issue said.

It was learnt that Tibiebi has been boastful about being untouchable by law enforcement officials due to his connections with the state PDP executive members and the state government.

When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Musa Mohammed, said no to the arrest. However, the source disclosed that Tibiebi is being held at the Criminal Investigative Department (CID).
