Bayelsa Guber: PDP Concludes Campaign, Optimistic Of Victory

November 07, (THEWILL) – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has concluded its campaign ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Bayelsa State.

At the grand finale of its campaign held at the Ox-bow Lake Pavilion in Yenagoa, chieftains of the Party expressed confidence that the party’s candidate and the incumbent Governor, Douye Diri, would retain his seat.

After months of soliciting votes across the 24 constituencies and 105 wards in the 8 local government areas of the State, the campaign trail of the Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa State came to a climax in Yenagoa, a few days before the gubernatorial election.

Leading big wigs of the party who mounted the rostrum at the Ox-bow Lake pavilion, the venue of the grand finale of the campaign, former governor of Delta State and running mate to the PDP presidential candidate, Doctor Ifeanyi Okowa, said the party was going into Saturday’s contest on a united front and a track record of achievements.

Former Governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, called on Bayelsans to vote for Governor Diri and his running mate, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, for the peace and level of infrastructural development recorded in the last four years.

Immediate past governor and the Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Seriake Dickson, noted that the present administration has consolidated the projects of the previous government, stressing the need for continuity for the development of the State.

Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Ambassador Umar Damagum, who presented the party’s flag to Governor Diri and his running mate, Ewhrudjakpo, said Bayelsa was a stronghold of the PDP and would continue after Saturday’s polls.

Shortly after receiving the party’s flag, the candidate of the PDP, Governor Douye Diri, urged voters in Bayelsa to give him a fresh mandate to build on the achievements in the last four years.

Others including Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, the National Vice Chairman of the PDP South South, Chief Dan Orbih and the Board of Trustees of the party all expressed optimism on the chances of the PDP candidate to emerge victorious on Saturday.

A minute silence was held in honour of the Women Leader of the PDP, Professor Stella Effah-Attoe, who died after an ailment some days ago.
