Bayelsa Community Reaffirms Dethronement Of Its Paramount Ruler

September 14, (THEWILL) – The Chiefs, elders, leaders of thought and the entire people of Igbomotoru community, in a well-attended general meeting held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, in Igbomotoru, have resolved from henceforth to cease to admit in its fold or recognise Aseimieghe Ayibaikie Ofongo, as the paramount ruler of the community.

The motion to the effect was moved by Chief Goodnews Jonathan, seconded by Chief Jeremiah Young, and was adopted by the entire community.

As contained in a statement made available to journalists in Yenagoa, on Tuesday,13th September, 2022, “This follows his balkanisation of the community into factions, the serial breaches of the constitution of the community and conniving with Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC), Darlon Oil and Gas Limited and Mr David Lyon, Agip surveillance contractor, to lead soldiers to invade the community for selfish ends. More than that, the soldiers burnt down properties, dehumanise women and children, young and old, and are carrying out indiscriminate arrests of natives since the 22nd of June, 2022.”

The community also at the meeting, sent a save our soul message to the His Excellency, the Governor of Bayelsa State, Sen. Douye Diri to wade into their plight, “as the military men, stationed in the houseboats in the community, owned by Mr David Lyon, and named after his biological daughter “IFIEMI”, has refused building materials, medical supplies, food and other necessaries, to freely enter into the community even when it is not at war with any individual, company or government.”

The people of Igbomotoru, also used the occasion to alert the International Community of the ill fate that has befallen them over the abnormal acts of Nigerian Agip Oil Company, Darlon Oil and Gas, Mr David Lyon and the deposed Aseimieghe Ayibaikie Ofongo.
