September 28, (THEWILL) – Barcelona announced a net profit of €304 million for the 2022/2023 season on Thursday, the same day the club was charged with bribery over the Negreira case currently under investigation.
The club’s overall operating income reached €1.259 billion while operating expenses totalled €1.165 billion. Barcelona set new revenue records in commercial revenue (€350 million) and merchandising (€100 million). Sponsorship deals brought in €200 million, boosted by 20 new partners. As previously confirmed, the club raised €400 million by selling 15% of its audiovisual rights to La Liga broadcasts.
Compared to 2022, Barcelona’s net debt has fallen from €680 million to €552 million. This reduction in net debt also led to a decrease in the club’s overall debt burden. However, it does not include the separate €1.45 billion financing for the Espai Barca development project. In a statement, the board said it views the year-end financial results positively. It noted that cost containment and reduction measures initiated since 2021 are ongoing.
For 2023/2024, Barcelona predicted declines in both revenue (to €859 million) and profits (to €11 million). The primary factor is the temporary relocation to Lluis Companys Stadium during Camp Nou renovations. The smaller venue will generate less gate and matchday revenue.
Club President Joan Laporta recently expressed confidence that Barcelona’s financial recovery is ahead of schedule. He cited progress across all areas and thanked those responsible for player registrations. Laporta believes Barcelona will achieve financial stability sooner than the strategic plan outlook if on-field performance remains strong.
