Barcelona Femeni Wallop Hoffenheim 4-Nil As UWCL Enters Matchday 3

November 11, (THEWILL) – The reigning UEFA Women’s Champions League holders Barcelona Femeni are making a statement that it does not matter who they are up against, the ladies of the Catalan club always look majestic as they were again in magnificent mode against Hoffenheim in the UWCL on Wednesday in clinching their third win in the competition this season.

Hoffenheim pressed early at the home stadium of the champions, the Estadi Johan Cruyff, but that was their only genuine attack of the first half as Barca’s forward Jennifer Hermoso had the ball in the net after just six minutes.

The ladies from La Blaugrana were all over the German defence, and Alexia Putellas quickly made it two with a shot so powerful that one might be forgiven for thinking Martina Tufekovic’s glove needed to be replaced.

On 34 minutes, the same Putellas added to the lead against a Hoffenheim team that was outclassed in every way possible. Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala was a thorn in the flesh of the German side although she was substituted three minutes after the hour mark.

The was some problem with the floodlights in the Estadi Johan Cruyff and it threatened to be more of a talking topic than the likely outcome in the second half. Yet, the game continued and the Catalans were cruising, on track for another three points, with the only question being by how many.

Tufekovic performed an excellent job of ensuring that there would be just one more goal in the game, which was scored by Marta Torrejón, who would be replaced by newcomer Baradad seconds afterwards.
