November 19, (THEWILL) – Barcelona women’s team continued their utter domination over rivals, Real Madrid, on Sunday, defeating Los Blancos 5-0 at the Olympic Stadium, to extend their winning streak in El Clásico to 12 straight matches.
The Catalan giants, who have never lost to their arch-rivals, put on a masterclass display even without the services of injured star, Alexia Putellas. The comprehensive result allowed Barcelona to open up a 6-point lead at the top of the Primera División standings, while second-placed Real suffered their second defeat of the campaign.
Ballon d’Or winner, Aitana Bonmati, opened the scoring for the hosts in the 17th minute, before further first-half goals from Caroline Graham Hansen and Mariona Caldentey, gave Barcelona a comfortable 3-0 advantage at the break.

Real struggled to stop the rout in the second 45, but two late strikes from substitutes Claudia Pina and 17-year-old Vicky Lopez, rubbed salt into the wounds. The 5-0 mauling also extended Barcelona’s extraordinary unbeaten home streak in the league to 67 matches, dating back to February 2019.
On the evidence of Sunday’s demolition, it appears Barcelona’s dominance over their bitter rivals, and the Liga F, shows no signs of abating anytime soon.
