BEVERLY HILLS, May 31, (THEWILL) – As expected with the conclusion of the 2020/2021 season, Catalan side Barcelona have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Argentine striker Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero to bring him to Camp Nou.

The 32-year-old left former side, English Premier League champions Manchester City, on a free move with the May ending expiration of his contract with the club and will start a fresh contract with Barca from Tuesday, July 1.

Details from Barcelona indicate that Aguero’s contract with La Blaugrana will keep him at the Catalan side until the end of the 2022/23 season and his buyout clause is set at 100 million euros, should another club seek his services in that period.

Barca will officially make a presentation of the player to the media in a formal ceremony that will take place at 5.00pm local time on Monday, when the player will sign the contract in the President Suñol suite in a private event. This will be followed by a 5.25pm photo session on the field at Camp Nou.

The ceremony will conclude with a 6.00pm presentation and press conference at the Auditori 1899 where Aguero will appear in his new shirt and number.

The Argentine forward played his 390th game for Guardiola’s City in the recent Champions League final against Chelsea in Porto, coming on as a substitute in his final game as City unsuccessfully chased an equaliser after going behind in the first half.

It was Aguero’s 10th season in the EPL and he exits the top flight of English football with the records that establish his status as a definitive legend. Not only did he become City’s all time top scorer, he accomplished the feat of becoming the foreign player with most goals ever.

The striker arrives at the Catalan side having found the net 260 times for City, assisted in 74 goals which all helped the Etihad club win 15 trophies, in all. They took 5 Premier League titles, 1 FA Cup, 6 League Cups and 3 Community Shields.

This will not be Aguero’s first rodeo in the Spanish top division. As far back as 2006, he entered the first squad of Atletico Madrid from Club Atletico Independiente, the Argentine professional sports club, which has its headquarters and stadium in the city of Avellaneda in Greater Buenos Aires.

At the Madrid club, Aguero quickly made his name as one of the best strikers in the division. He helped Atletico win one Europa League title in 2010, the UEFA Super Cup in 2011 before adding to his collection of honours in England with Manchester City and the 15 trophies they won while he was there.
