Bandits Kill Six, Injure Others In Sokoto

September 10, (THEWILL) – Armed men suspected to be bandits have killed six persons in Tureta local government area of Sokoto State.

Tureta local government shares a border with Zamfara State, where the  military is currently carrying out operations against the bandits.

THEWILL gathered that many people were injured and are now receiving treatment in the hospital.

According to a source, who is familiar  with the development, the bandits stormed the area around 2a.m, on  Thursday morning.

The source explained that the attackers called for Muslim’s prayers to deceive residents.

“The residents started coming out, thinking it was a time for a dawn prayer and the bandits started shooting at them”, the source said; adding that some residents of the area have started relocating to other places for safety.

Meanwhile, Deputy governor of Sokoto state, Alhaji Maniru Dan’iya, has visited the area and assured residents of the government’s commitment to end banditry in the state.

He assured that the State Government would pay all the bills of the injured persons.
