More than 80 people have reportedly been abducted in separate attacks by suspected bandits in Niger and Zamfara states, highlighting the continuing threat posed by armed criminal gangs to farming communities across northern Nigeria.

According to the report, while the total ransom demanded by kidnappers declined from ₦48 billion in the previous period to ₦22.9 billion under review, actual ransom payments increased sharply from ₦2.56 billion to ₦7.78 billion.
