July 03, (THEWILL) – Bandits have unleashed mayhem on the people of Pyem Chiefdom, in Mangu Local Government Area in the Central zone of Plateau State, killing one, injuring and abducting two others.
The attackers reportedly invaded the village in the early hours of Sunday and declared hostilities on the residents.
Local sources said an elder statesman and community leader of Angwan Baraya, Baba Yarima Jabil, of Jannaret Ward, in Gindiri District, was shot and injured and is in a critical condition in an undisclosed hospital.
His son, whose name was not given, as confirmed by local sources, was not lucky, as he succumbed to the bullets of the assailants.
The bandits abducted the wife of the victim and escaped without trace, as no contact has been made with any identifiable person as at press time, though security agents are reportedly on their trail.
Amongst the children of BabanYarima, it was gathered, are Prof Y.Y Jabil of the University of Jos, Dr I Jabi, l Deputy Provost, NVRI, Vom and Dr Angel Jabil, also of the University of Jos.
