Bandits Invade Kogi Varsity, Abduct Students

May 10, (THEWILL) – Gunmen, suspected to be bandits, on Thursday night, invaded the Kogi state University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Osara and abducted an unspecified number of students.

Eyewitnesses of the incident told newsmen on Friday, that the Bandits, in their large numbers, invaded the school through the bush path.

The school local security were said to have displayed gallantry as they engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel that lasted for over 30 minutes.

Some students who escaped said the hoodlums invaded the school around 9pm and went straight to lecture halls, where the students were having tutorials preparatory for their upcoming first semester exams.

Confirming the incident, the vice chancellor, Professor Abdulraman Asipita, said the situation was under control.

The Kogi State Police Command has not issued any statement on the incident, but THEWILL gathered that the police and other security agencies have been mobilised to the school and the community.
