September 08, (THEWILL) — The eight-time winner has been named among the 30 nominees for the 2026 award, marking his return to the prestigious list after being absent from the previous two editions.
Messi’s inclusion adds another major storyline to a shortlist that brings together football’s established superstars and the next generation of elite talent.
The Inter Miami forward appears alongside Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal, Real Madrid stars Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane.
