August 27, (THEWILL) – The Director General of Global Initiatives For Good Governance (GIGG), Dr Emeka Kalu, has said that the candidacy of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) flagbearer in the 2023 general election has nothing to do with the outcome of the election.

Dr Kalu was reacting to a remark attributed to the former National Vice-Chairman in the Southwest Zone of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, who recently cited that PDP lost the 2023 Presidential Election because Atiku was the candidate

Debunking the assumption, Dr Kalu said that such a claim is not true, stating that he would be glad to be thoroughly convinced with facts about how Atiku’s candidacy denied PDP victory in the recently held 2023 general election despite how viral electoral malpractices truncated the polls.

Dr Kalu also frowned at what he described as a sentimentally driven and unfounded prophecy of Primate Elijah Ayodele of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, who emotionally voiced that PDP would lose the 2027 Presidential election if it nominates Atiku as its flagbearer

According to Kalu, Atiku has widely impacted the nation in various capacities and there is no way his name would be allowed to be dented by traducers and peddlers of falsehood.

Kalu pointed out that it is usually easier to cast aspersions, hate and verbally muddle a leader but that what gladdens his heart is that the unwavering spirit of steadfastness in Alhaji Atiku always aids him overcome ills and gets ahead of obstacles of men.

He said, “Atiku Abubakar is simply hated for nothing. He has good plans for Nigeria and his arrival in Aso Rock as the next President of Nigeria in no doubt will grow the crops of our national democracy where all citizens grow and prosper.

“I hereby demand that this misguided, badly conceived and politically motivated character destruction is henceforth retracted, else our legal department would not hesitate to sue the defaulters on personality assassination, misrepresentation of facts and defamation of character.”

Condemning a series of recent attacks on Atiku, the politician said: “The degree of political antagonism, strife, hatred, mudslinging and media lampoons by desperate Nigerians against Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has become a clear case of senseless wickedness to harm his personality and good visions to become the next President of Nigeria with the capacity of transforming the nation.”

He, therefore, maintained that it is defamatory to be meaninglessly antagonising a respected national leader whose antecedents have ever remained befitting, especially in touching the lives of the masses.

As a sagacious and resilient leader, Kalu insisted that Atiku Abubakar has been intentionally rejiging the collapsing socio-political economic structures of the nation when elected the next President and it remains one of his continued points of National Transformation Agenda towards healing the wounds of APC’s lopsided governance in the Country.

“So saddening that those who fed from the political pot of Waziri Adamawa to become relevant in the political society have chosen to denigrate his personality simply to please Atiku’s enemies”.

On Nigeria’s future prospects, Dr Kalu added “invariably, the dark column of the nation’s economy could only be whitened in the face of Atiku Abubakar’s Presidency of Nigeria wants to excel. Moreso, Atiku remains the only seasoned national leader with the audacity to return Nigeria to the front page of infrastructural development and national security, considering his wealth of experience in public administration and politics.”
