August 29, (THEWILL) – For Nigeria to come out of the current economic situation bedevilling the country, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Global Initiatives for Good Governance (GIGG), has advised Nigerians to consider the choice of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 general elections.

The NGO is of the view that Atiku remains the only politician in the country who can fix the mess the All Progressives Congress (APC) has put Nigeria in the past nine years.

The group, in a statement issued on Thursday and signed by its Director-General, Dr. Emeka Kalu, said Atiku possesses the wealth of experience to rejuvenate the country from its present dungeon.

According to Kalu, leadership is a sensitive profession and needs people with skills like Atiku to save the country from its economic woes in recent years.

Kalu noted that Atiku is an unbiased Nigerian with friends and connections across the country, irrespective of religion and ethnicity, stressing that those sentimentally harbouring ill-conceived feelings of ethnic hatred, mudslinging and media attacks on the personality of the former Vice President were the main enemies of Nigeria.

He accused those chastising the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections as those who are fond of installing inexperienced people in political positions of authority with the deceptive intent of receiving undue gratifications from them.

He said: “As the curtain of the 2027 general election closes on, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar remains the only leader with the wealth of experience to fix Nigeria, rejuvenate the nation’s crumbling economy and bring it to the front page of excellence. The present state of the nation demands that a President of national unity be popularly elected since the APC’s vetted nine years of governance has woefully failed us.

“Leadership is a sensitive profession and only those with the capacity, wisdom and sagacity are fit to govern the polity. Those sentimentally harbouring ill-conceived feelings of ethnic hatred, mudslinging and media attacks on Atiku’s personality are the main enemies of the country who are good at sponsoring and installing stooge in positions of authority with the deceptive intent of receiving undue gratifications from the puppets.

“They rely on cheap political permutations to peddle falsehood against a man whose good antecedents have pencilled his name on the golden stones of honour.”

Kalu described the critics of the former Vice President as hired agents with a bleak political future. He insisted that Nigeria, in the hands of Atiku as the President, would be economically transformed, taking the nation’s economy a distance in advancement, investment, infrastructure and security of lives and properties.

He further described Atiku as a round peg in a round hole whose preparedness to rejig the nation’s socio-political and economic system remained unwavering.

He urged Nigerians to rally round Atiku by providing him with all the political support needed to have him duly elected as the next President of Nigeria in 2027.
