Astroworld Festival: 46 Lawsuits Filed Against Travis Scott

November 11, (THEWILL) – The number of lawsuits filed against American singer, Travis Scott and other Astroworld Festival organizers by aggrieved persons continue to increase.

THEWILL had reported that eight people were killed and hundreds more injured due to stampede during Scott’s performance last Friday night at the Astroworld Festival in Houston.

According to Billboard, this development has opened the legal floodgates. As of Wednesday morning, November 10, 46 lawsuits have been filed against the rapper and the festival’s organizers.

Some of the lawsuits allege that Scott, Live Nation, Drake, and other defendants were negligent and failed to properly plan and execute the Astroworld Festival.

Also, the organizers and singer were accused of failing to stop the concert until nearly 40 minutes after Houston PD declared a “mass casualty incident”.

Billboard stated that the cases began to be filed in Harris County District Court within hours of the incident, with more flooding in on Wednesday and many more are expected to follow in the coming days.

Experts disclosed to Billboard that the litigation over the occurrence could ultimately see hundreds of individual claims, and that potential damages or settlements could reach hundreds of millions of dollars.

On Tuesday, the family of a nine-year-old boy who sustained “life-threatening” injuries filed a lawsuit against the rapper.

Attorney Ben Crump, who alongside co-counsel Alex and Bob Hilliard has been picked by the boy’s parents and other Astroworld victims, confirmed on Tuesday that the child, named Ezra Blount, was presently in hospital.

The lawyers have also filed a lawsuit as the child remains “on life support after suffering severe damage to his liver, kidney, and brain”.

According to the legal team, “the injuries will impair his quality of life” and his “ability to grow and thrive”.

The lawsuit blames the child’s injuries squarely on Scott, Live Nation and several other entities, claiming that they egregiously failed in their duty to protect the health, safety and lives of all concertgoers.

In an earlier message on Twitter, Crump stated: “EB sustained life-threatening injuries and is currently hospitalized, in a medically-induced coma”.

He continued: “The suffering that this family is going through is immeasurable. This little boy had his whole life ahead of him – a life that is currently hanging in the balance because of the reckless mismanagement that ensued at the Astroworld Festival.

“We ask everyone to send up the most powerful prayers they can as this family tries to grapple with the undoable damage that has been done to their son. We demand justice for EB, his family, and all of our clients that left Astroworld with trauma.”
