November 07, (THEWILL) – Following Aston Villa’s fifth consecutive Premier League defeat, team manager Dean Smith has been stripped of his duties.
Smith took over at Villa in October 2018 after leaving Brentford and led the team to promotion at the end of the previous season.
He kept the team in the Premier League and led Villa to the Carabao Cup final since then, but he has paid the price for a poor run of form in the 2021/2022 campaign.
His firing comes a day after Daniel Farke was fired for the same poor form in Norwich City, as THEWILL reported, and Nuno Espirito Santo’s dismissal at the start of the month.
