Aston Martin Extends Alonso’s Contract In Significant Multi-Year Deal

April 11, (THEWILL)- Aston Martin has announced a multi-year contract extension with veteran driver, Fernando Alonso. The 42-year-old Spaniard, who joined the team in 2023, will continue to race for the Aston Martin Aramco outfit for at least the next two seasons.

An enthusiastic Alonso said: “There has been much said and written about my future in Formula One in the past few months, but today I’m delighted to announce that I’m here to stay with Aston Martin Aramco in a multi-year agreement.” The two-time world champion emphasised that he had felt at home with the team since his arrival, and the partnership had already yielded several memorable podium finishes.

Aston Martin Team Principal, Mike Krack, lauded the deal, noting that confirming Alonso’s long-term future with the team was “fantastic news.” Krack highlighted the strong working relationship the team has built with the veteran driver over the past 18 months and the shared determination to see the Aston Martin project succeed.

Alonso’s new contract with Aston Martin will take him through the 2026 season, which coincides with the team’s works power unit partnership with Honda. This long-term commitment underscores Alonso’s belief in the team’s potential and the mutual trust between the driver and the organisation.

The announcement comes on the heels of Alonso’s milestone 100th F1 podium, which he achieved at the 2023 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The Spaniard’s continued presence at Aston Martin will undoubtedly be a boost for the team as they strive to solidify their position in the highly competitive world of F1.
