Another Upset For Raducanu As Sasnovich Wins 3-6 6-1 6-1 In French Open Second Round

May 25, (THEWILL) – Emma Raducanu’s run at the French Open came to an end in the second round when she was defeated in three sets by Aliaksandra Sasnovich, who won the match after losing the first set 6-3.

The US Open winner appeared to be in fine form at first, but the Belarusian came back to take the second and third sets 6-1 to progress.

The result was yet another letdown for the British number, who has only won two Grand Slam matches in two events this year. She also had a tumultuous time off the court, having parted ways with coach Torben Beltz and entering Roland-Garros without a full-time coach.

There are not many players Raducanu has faced twice on the tour, but Sasnovich was one of them. She was the first player she faced after winning the US Open last summer, and she lost to the Belarusian again.

Raducanu, whose ranking shot up after her historic US Open triumph as the Brits began to dream of a regular Grand Slam champion, is now out of the French Open second round, while Sasnovich advances.
