November 06, (THEWILL) – Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has confirmed that midfielder, Jude Bellingham, will undergo tests on his shoulder after picking up an injury during Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Rayo Vallecano.
The England international fell awkwardly on his shoulder inside the opening 10 minutes at the Estadio de Vallecas and although he completed the full 90 minutes, Bellingham appeared in real discomfort. Doctors were seen adjusting bandages on his shoulder and hand multiple times during the match whilst the 19-year-old was also feeling the effects of the injury after the final whistle.
When quizzed on Bellingham’s condition after the stalemate, Ancelotti told reporters: “He has a shoulder problem. He was a little affected, but he could play. [On Monday] they are going to do tests. I don’t think it is anything serious.”
The Italian boss was also questioned on Madrid’s growing dependence on Bellingham for goals this season. The midfielder has netted over 40% of his team’s La Liga strikes, with loanee forward, Joselu, the only other player to score more than twice.
Ancelotti remained confident that Madrid had ample resources in attack, saying: “No, we have a lot of resources. We have created with [Federico] Valverde, Joselu, Rodrygo…we lacked a little success.”
Despite the injury scare, Ancelotti believes Bellingham will be fit for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League clash against Braga. Madrid fans will be keeping a close eye on the tests as they sweat over the fitness of their star goalscorer.
