February 17, (THEWILL) – Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has dismissed the ongoing speculation linking Paris Saint-Germain forward, Kylian Mbappe, with a summer transfer to the Spanish giants. Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, ahead of Real’s La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano, Ancelotti insisted he is only focused on Sunday’s vital game rather than transfer rumours.
Mbappe is set to leave PSG when his contract expires after this season. The terms of the agreement are still undecided and an official announcement may be months away. The 25-year-old was heavily linked with Real last summer, but opted to sign a PSG contract extension instead.
When quizzed about the potential blockbuster signing by reporters, Ancelotti expertly evaded questions on whether he would like Mbappe at Real or if the dressing room talks about the Frenchman. “We talked about the match. We know it’s a vital match for this season,” said the Italian.
La Liga leaders Real can take another step towards the title with victory over struggling Rayo on Sunday. Second-placed Girona face a tough away trip to in-form Athletic Bilbao on Monday as they try to keep their now-slimming title hopes alive.
Ancelotti accepted that he will continue facing questions about Mbappe until the attacker’s future is resolved. “Do you see me affected now? No, no…I know press conferences will be like that from now on,” the Real boss quipped.
