Alvan Ikoku Varsity Matriculates Over 1,300 Students

March 23, (THEWILL) – The Alvan Ikoku University of Education, Owerri, on Friday, matriculated no fewer than 1,300 students for the 2023/2024 academic section.

In her address, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Prof. (Mrs) Stella Lemchi, described the ceremony as historical, saying it will be the last time the institution will matriculate students in collaboration with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

“For over forty years, our institution has collaborated with the UNN to admit and produce graduates,” she disclosed.

While congratulating the fresh students who have been admitted into the University, Prof. Lemchi described it as a testament to their hard work, dedication and commitment.

“Our institution is known for providing quality education, competent graduates and contributing to the development of our nation,” she stated.

Prof. Lemchi further admonished them to be open-minded, respectful and tolerant to others, urging them to conduct themselves with the highest standards of integrity.

Speaking on accommodation, she said: “We have massively renovated male and female hostels in our school. We also remodelled the rooms to attract natural air.”

In his matriculation address, the Vice Chancellor, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, who was represented by Prof. Joachim Omeje, Dean, Faculty of Education, congratulated Alvan Ikoku University of Education and assured its management of continued cooperation.

While congratulating the students, the Vice Chancellor reminded them that their success is important to their families, UNN and Alvan Ikoku varsity, saying: “You have the opportunity to determine your direction. You can make or mar your direction.”

He, therefore, enjoined them to be good ambassadors of where they came from and reminded them to strive to make a difference in their endeavours.
