November 05, (THEWILL) – Brazilian heavyweight, Jailton Almeida, cruised to a dominant but uneventful unanimous decision victory over Derrick Lewis in the UFC Fight Night main event in São Paulo.
Almeida controlled Lewis on the mat for nearly the entire 25-minute fight, racking up over 21 minutes of control time and earning 50-44, 50-44 and 50-45 scorecards from the judges. It was the sixth straight UFC win for Almeida, who called out top contender, Ciryl Gane, in his post-fight interview.
In the co-main event, veteran, Nicolas Dalby, weathered an early storm to defeat previously unbeaten Brazilian welterweight, Gabriel Bonfim, via TKO in the second round. Dalby has now won three straight fights since returning to the UFC for a second stint.
Other highlights on the card included a stunning first-round knockout by Brazilian prospect Elves Brener and an impressive decision win for Angela Hill over Denise Gomes. Hill equalled the UFC strawweight record with her 10th promotional victory.
In the prelims, hometown favourites went 2-2-1 against foreign opponents. Eduarda Moura delighted Brazilian fans with a second-round TKO win in her successful UFC debut.
