SAN FRANCISCO, September 19, (THEWILL) – The Anambra State Commissioner for Special Duties, Chief Vincent Ejikeme Ezenwajiaku, who was declared wanted by the Special Fraud Unit of the Force Criminal Investigations Department, over alleged forgery and obtaining by false pretence offence, has said he will resign from his position on Friday.
The SFU said the Commissioner, who has been on the run, allegedly obtained N10.6 million naira from an undisclosed businessman as an investment in a phoney company between 1996 and 2002.
But in a briefing on Thursday, the Commissioner said he has sued the state Commissioner of Police in charge of Special Fraud Unit (SFU), a certain Mr. Chuks Mgbemena in the employment of NIMASA and CSP Okposiakpo Elolor, for N250 million naira over what he described as attempt wreck his hard earned reputation.
He said he had already sued four persons in two cases over what he described as an attempt to blackmail and embarrass him because of his appointment into the Anambra State executive cabinet.
“I have never been involved in any form of fraud because of a personal vow I took after my youth service. I have never been arrested or detained all my life.
“As a result of this raging fire, I am going further by resigning my position as the state Commissioner for Special Duties. I am going to tender the letter to Governor Peter Obi first thing tomorrow morning (Friday).”
“I do not intend to embarrass this government, this is to prove my innocence until I clear my name of this mess, whatever it will take to do it, I will do it,” the embattled Commissioner who has refused to honour at least two invitations from the SFU said.
