September 02, (THEWILL) – Commissioner for Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, Hon Ugwu Odoh, has expressed the readiness of the Revd Fr Hyacinth Alia’s administration, to tackle water shortage and other environmental issues facing Benue State over the years.
Fielding questions after a reception organised by the Ogbadibo group in his honour in Makurdi, Hon. Odoh revealed that he got a matching order from his Principal, to assess and bring on the tables challenges that are inhibiting the provision of potable water to residents.
According to him, his thirteen years in the administration of local Government in the state, has given him the needed exposure and experience to handle bigger administrative positions as Commissioner.
Responding to a question, Odoh explained that Benue people made no mistake in the choice of Revd Fr Alia as Governor, saying dividends of democracy will surely come on the table for all to benefit in the course of governance.
In his remarks, a Professor of Political Science at the Benue State University, Makurdi, John Ibu, said the competence of Odoh has been put to test by governor Alia, with his appointment as a member of the Benue State Executive Council.
Professor Ibu, therefore, charged the appointee to prove
his competence through new innovations to solve water and other environmental challenges facing various communities in the state.
THEWILL recalls that governor Alia, last Tuesday, administered the oath of office to 17 Commissioners, with a charge to be innovative and to tap from stakeholders for the greater good of the state.
