September 24, (THEWILL) – About two weeks ago, Hakeem Shagaya, one of the sons of businesswoman and socialite, Bola Shagaya, was bestowed with a chieftaincy title by the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo III.
Hakeem was honoured with the chieftaincy title during the weeklong activities held to celebrate the Alake’s 80th birthday alongside 30 other people. He was one of the young entrepreneurs deemed worthy enough to be honoured by the traditional ruler.
Although he is from Kwara State, perhaps, Hakeem’s philanthropic acts must have been one of the many reasons he was chosen to receive a chieftaincy title. On hand to support him was his wife of 11 years, Amina, a medical doctor and daughter of Alhaji Mahey Rasheed, a former chairman of Sovereign Wealth Fund.
Progressive, smart, and forward-looking, Hakeem who is the Managing Director/CEO of Asolar Systems Nigeria Limited belongs to the class of 21st century business revolutionists. A philanthropist, he partners the London School of Economics on mentorship and development in Nigeria with focus on universities.
Prior to his present position as CEO Asolar Systems, Hakeem was and still is the CEO/Managing Director, Karmod Nigeria Limited from June 2014 till date. There, he effectively managed a team of over 40 employees in three locations across the country with a $500,000 annual operating budget. He has been on the Board of Caverton Helicopters since 2017, an Executive Director at Afrihealth Solutions Ltd since 2020, and a onetime Non-Executive Director at Unity Bank PLC etc. A graduate of King’s College London, where he bagged a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Management and Business Studies, he also has a Masters Degree from the University of Sheffield in Management of Science, Technology and Innovation and is an alumnus of the University of Manchester Business School.
