Al Taawon Whip Al Wehda 4-1 in Saudi Pro League Action

September 03, (THEWILL) – Al Taawon put on a dominant display to thrash Al Wehda 4-1 in the Saudi League on Saturday.

The home side took the lead in the 10th minute through Flávio, who was teed up by a sublime pass from Álvaro Medran. Sattam Al Roqi doubled Al Taawon’s advantage in the 28th minute, this time, with a well-placed finish from the edge of the penalty area. Waleed Al Ahmad made it 3-0 in the 62nd minute before Andrei Girotto added a fourth goal for Al Taawon in the 85th minute. Faycal Fajr pulled one back for Al Wehda in the 90th minute, but it was too little too late for the visitors.

Al Taawon were in complete control of the match from start to finish. They dominated possession and created a number of chances, while Al Wehda struggled to get a foothold in the game. The home side’s attacking play was spearheaded by Flávio, who was a constant menace to the Al Wehda defence. His goal aside, he was involved in a number of other scoring opportunities.

Al Wehda did have their moments in the match, but they were unable to create enough chances to seriously challenge Al Taawon as Odion Ighalo’s single shot at goal was blocked and he could not find a way to affect the scoreline. Their best chance came in the 70th minute when Fajr hit the post from close range. However, that was as close as they came to scoring.

The win was a comprehensive one for Al Taawon, who are now unbeaten in their last five matches in the Saudi League. They will be hoping to continue their good form in the coming weeks and challenge for the title. The win moves Al Taawon up to second place in the Saudi League table, while Al Wehda remain in 9th place.
