September 23, (THEWILL) – MTN Nigeria has expressed its readiness to create a digital innovation programme focusing on tourism activities, noting that such efforts would promote African progress.
While sponsoring the 20th edition of the Akwaaba Africa Travel Market, Omowunmi Olatunbosun, Head of SME Segments at MTN Nigeria, announced this at the grand opening ceremony on Sunday.
The Akwaaba Africa Travel Market, aimed at promoting sustainable tourism, brought together key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors at Eko Hotels and Suites, Convention Centre, Lagos.
Expressing enthusiasm over the engagement, Olatunbosun, emphasised the need for robust partnerships to drive productivity and efficiency in the tourism industry.
To this end, she noted that MTN offers digital services for various industries, including tourism and travel markets, amongst others.
In addition, she said: “MTN’s offerings include digital applications, market expansion, customer engagement and bespoke solutions tailored to industry problems. Implementing these solutions could reduce costs, increase productivity and drive down expenses, ultimately contributing to the growth of the tourism sector.
“We also have products that actually build bespoke solutions depending on the problem statement in an industry, so regardless of what an issue may be, we are on standby to assist you with our technology operations.
“And we would tell you that once you introduce this into business operations, the digital platform will actually drive down their cost to serve, by pushing their customers towards the digital application and also increase their productivity by 30%. So these are some of the bespoke solutions that we can help create within the tourism sector.”
Exhibitors include Kenya Tourism Board, Kenya Airways, Flora Travel and Tours, Cinderella Travel and Tours, Ekiti Tourism, ROYELI Tours and Travel, Tripberry, Tanzania Tourism, LUX Marijani Zanzibar, and Ghana Tourism, among others.
The 2024 Akwaaba grand ceremony, attended by the President of the Royal Chiefs Association of Ghana and CEO of NAAG Travel and Tours, featured various activities, including brand presentations and guest arrivals.
