The letter is dated August 26, 2021 titled, “Notification of Resolution of Congress,” addressed to the Managing Director Captain Rabiu Yadudu, and copied to the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, said the demands were urgent and must be treated with urgency.

The letter made available to THEWILL on Thursday read,” We are obliged to inform management that workers and pensioners of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) held a Congress on Tuesday the 24th of August, 2021 in Lagos where issues of serious concerns to staff and pensioners which are equally of importance to the Agency were discussed and mandates were given our unions to execute.

“Having waited for too long for the lingering issues affecting staff and pensioners’ welfare to be positively resolved without success, management is hereby notified of the following resolutions by congress:

“FAAN Management must within the next seven days remit all outstanding cooperative deductions, and continue to deduct and remit as and when due. All pending furniture grants must be settled latest by the end of December 021, the National Minimum Wage and Consequential Adjustment Implementation must commence by the end of September 2021, and the outstanding arrears paid in line with the statutory commencement month of April 2019.

“All due staff gratuity must be fully settled at the end of December 2021. The long overdue staff actuarial valuation must be conducted and concluded within the next 30 days and remittances of outstanding Staff Pension Contribution.”

According to the unions, failure to meet these demands would leave them no option but to execute the congress’ mandates by any means necessary.
