December 19, (THEWILL) – At the weekend’s fourth Valuejet Lagos Para Table Tennis Open, Tajudeen Agunbiade, Isau Ogunkunle, Biola Adesope, and Christiana Ikpoeyi emerged victorious in the men’s and women’s divisions.
The Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall, at Teslim Balogun Stadium, served as the venue for the competition as Adesope defeated Olufemi Alabi 11-5, 12-10, 11-7, Faith Obazuaye thrashed Kehinde Lawal 11-3, 11-9, 11-7, and Agunbiade defeated Tunde Adisa in the men’s class 9 finals. Ogunkunle defeated Chinedu Nick in the men’s class 4 finals by scores of 11-6, 7-11, 11-4, and 11-8.
The team of Ikpeoyi, Ogunkunle, Agunbiade, and Obazuaye, who are already considering their spots at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, used the opportunity provided by the tournament to observe their potential competitors in the national qualifiers.

Oluwatoyin Gafaar, the Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, who spoke at the end of the event, was pleased that the competition was serving its purpose of discovering fresh talents. He said: “Coming from the National Sports Festival with most of these players participating, you can see that the standard is very high and lots of improvement on the part of the players.
“It shows that they really prepared and you see the finalists, who are champions from the festival showing their stuff here.”
