October 31, (THEWILL) – Sergio Aguero fell sick during the first half of Barcelona’s La Liga match against Alaves at Camp Nou, as THEWILL reported, and had to be rushed to the hospital for examinations.
In the 41st minute, Aguero had to lie down on the pitch after appearing distressed and clutching his chest. While receiving medical assistance on the pitch, a stretcher was brought onto the turf, but the Argentine was able to leave on his own strength.
Later footage showed an ambulance leaving Camp Nou, transporting Aguero to hospital, where he will undergo testing.
The problem first arose during an aerial challenge with a rival player, and he had to lie down after attempting to continue. Initial reports noted that his withdrawal was due to a mild tachycardia, which occurs when a person’s heart rate gets excessively fast.
The forward was considered “OK,” but the step to have him leave immediately to the hospital was taken as a precaution.
Although his health and well-being are undoubtedly paramount, Aguero will be disappointed to be forced to leave in these circumstances. Since joining Barcelona on a free transfer from Manchester City in the summer, this was his first start at Camp Nou.
The 33-year-old has already missed two months of the season due to a calf injury sustained before the start of the new season, and he would have been eager to make up for lost time.
