BEVERLY HILLS, May 21, (THEWILL) – Despite the implementation of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in sister agencies such as the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) and the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) is yet to benefit from the scheme.

In 18 months alone, THE WILL gathered that NAMA had lost no fewer than 21 staffers as a result of their inability to access medical treatment over the non-implementation of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) for staff of the agency.

The President of the Aeronautical Information Management (AIMAN), William Ngerem, who disclosed this at the world AIS day held in Abuja recently, said the welfare of aviation workers remained paramount.

He condemned the recent attacks in Kaduna and Jos airports FAAN quarters.

Ngerem noted that the attack on the workers revealed the grave danger aviators across the country faced in the light of security challenges

He called on the government and other security agencies to be proactive by taking urgent measures to avoid a repeat of the attacks.

Ngerem disclosed that other aviation agencies had implemented the NHIS scheme while NAMA had failed to do so.
