Again, Peter Obi Leads Tinubu, Atiku In Bloomberg Poll

September 28, (THEWILL) – Ahead of the 2023 general elections, a new opinion poll, commissioned by Bloomberg News, shows Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), holding a significant lead over both Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Atiku Abubakar of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Bloomberg said the result of its survey, conducted by Premise Data Corp, a San Francisco data company, showed a majority of respondents declared to vote for the former Anambra state governor in the 2023 presidential elections.

The Poll surveyed 3,973 Nigerians from September 5-20, ensuring national representation.

Respondents to the app-based poll were selected from quotas developed by age, gender, and location across the country’s six geopolitical zones.

According to the survey published on Wednesday, out of the 92% of participants that are ready to vote in the general elections, 72% named Obi as their first choice.

Also, from the percentage of respondents who are yet undecided to vote in the February elections, 45% also declared Peter Obi as their preferred candidate.

The APC Candidate, Bola Tinubu, garnered 16% of decided voters and 23% of those yet to make up their minds. While Atiku Abubakar of the PDP tallied 9% and 17% respectively.

Three-quarters of respondents said that the country is heading in the “wrong direction.”

A combined 88% listed the economy, unemployment, corruption, and security as causes.

More than 65% named Obi as the candidate best able to improve the economy, tackle corruption and reduce insecurity. Tinubu ranked second on each measure, ahead of Abubakar.

According to the poll, most respondents said that they trust the election to be run fairly and think their vote will make a difference.
