December 12, (THEWILL) – Victor Osimhen has stated that he has forgiven his club, Napoli, for posting a disparaging TikTok video mocking his missed penalty earlier this season.

After the 2023 CAF Awards ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco, where he won Best Male Player, the Nigerian striker said the incident was now “in the past” and that he was “happy” the situation had been resolved after discussions with club executives.

However, Osimhen’s future at the Italian club remains uncertain. According to recent reports, with negotiations over a new Napoli contract not progressing, Chelsea are poised to make a January bid to sign the frontman. Napoli have reportedly begun searching for potential replacements, looking at Osimhen’s compatriot Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface and Lille’s Jonathan David.

The controversial video was posted by Napoli in September after Osimhen failed to convert a penalty in a league draw with Bologna. At the time, he threatened legal action against the club before relations improved.

“I was certainly not happy, but De Laurentiis, his son Edoardo and many at the club have supported me,” Osimhen clarified. “They explained the situation, and even the person responsible for it was really nice to me.”
