September 18, (THEWILL) – Al Ittihad started their AFC Champions League campaign with a convincing 3-0 win over AGMK, at Prince Abdullah al-Faisal Stadium, in Jeddah, on Monday.
The hosts scored all three goals in the first half and controlled the game throughout. They side opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Harissoune Camara Ahmed fired in a left-footer from the left side of the box after a cross from Abderrazak Hamdallah. Four minutes later, Romarinho doubled the lead with a low shot from a corner kick.
The Brazilian striker then added his second goal from the penalty spot in the 42nd minute, after Hamdallah was fouled by AGMK midfielder Dilshod Akhmadaliev in the area. Romarinho calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner to make it 3-0.
The second half saw Al Ittihad Club maintain their dominance and create several chances, but they could not find the fourth goal. AGMK struggled throughout the entire duration of the match to threaten the home side’s defence but ultimately failed to register a single shot on target.
The result puts Al Ittihad Club on top of Group C with three points, while AGMK are at the bottom with zero points. The other two teams in the group played to a 2-2 draw. Ittihad’s next match is on Thursday against Al Fareh in the Saudi Pro League.
