AFC Champions League: Al Nassr Defeat Shabab Al Ahli In Six-Goal Thriller

August 23, (THEWILL) – Al Nassr came from behind to defeat Shabab Al Ahli 4-2 in the AFC Champions League Qualification competition on Tuesday, securing their place in the group stage of the competition.

Al Nassr started the match brightly and created several chances, but they were unable to find the breakthrough. Anderson Talisca finally broke the deadlock in the 11th minute with a well-taken goal. But, Shabab Al Ahli equalised in the 35th minute through Yahya Al Ghassani, who took advantage of a defensive mistake.

Shabab Al Ahli came out firing in the second half and they took the lead in the 58th minute through Al Ghassani, for his second goal of the game. However, Al Nassr were not to be denied and they scored two late goals to seal the victory.

Talisca scored his second goal in the 95th minute and Marcelo Brozovic added a fourth in the 97th minute.The match was a thrilling encounter, and it was a deserved win for Al Nassr even though Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, did not find the back of the net himself.

Still the hosts showed great character to come from behind and they will be a force to be reckoned with in the AFC Champions League. On Friday, Nassr face Al Father back in the Saudi Pro League, while UAE side, Shabab will take on Khorfakkane following day.
