Adoke Taken Into Custody By EFCC

BEVERLY HILLS, December 19, (THEWILL) – A former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke, has been taken into custody by the EFCC upon arrival from Dubai via the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at about 3:40pm on Thursday.

Adoke is facing charges bordering on alleged abuse of office and money laundering with respect to the granting of the Oil Prospecting License (OPL) 245 to Shell and ENI.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission filed the charges against the former AGF and four others on behalf of the Nigerian Government.

Adoke had been arrested by the police in Dubai in November and was held for 5 weeks until he chose to return to Nigeria.

Adoke has however denied any wrongdoing.
