November 28, (THEWILL) – Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has directed career heads of Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Area Councils Development Areas (ACDAs) in the state, to take immediate control and charge of the affairs of their respective councils.
A statement issued on Monday, by the Governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said the directive was in compliance with the judgement of the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, which declared the election of the new Local Government Chairmen illegal.
“Governor Adeleke also directed the most senior career heads across all the local government areas to take charge of their councils.
“This is in compliance with the judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo that sacked the council and local government chairmen and councillors”, the statement said.
THEWILL reports that the court, had on Friday, nullified the local government election conducted by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC).
The presiding Judge, Nathaniel Ayo-Emmanuel, held that the election was held in contravention of Sections 29 and 32 of the Electoral Act, 2022.
