August 07, (THEWILL) – Nigerian central defender, Tosin Adarabioyo, has reportedly declined a potential transfer to the English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.
Despite Fulham’s efforts to push through a deal, Adarabioyo has conveyed his preference for a move to French Ligue 1 outfit Monaco and has taken steps towards acquiring a Nigerian passport to avoid being categorised as a non-EU player in the event of his proposed switch to the Principality club.
Tottenham view Tosin as a cost-effective option to bolster their defensive lineup, as they target alternatives to Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, whose valuation stands at approximately £60 million. Speculation surrounding Tosin’s future heightened as he was left out of Fulham’s pre-season fixtures, indicating that manager Marco Silva may not have him in his plans for the forthcoming season, potentially leading to a transfer.
With less than a year left on his contract, Fulham aim to sell the player this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer at the end of the 2023/2024 campaign. Since he arrived at Craven Cottage in 2020, Adarabioyo has made 107 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals, one in the EPL and the other two in the Championship.
