August 14, (THEWILL) – Former Flying Eagles striker, Akor Adams, has been included in the Ligue 1 Team of the Week following his impressive debut for Montpellier against Le Havre.
The 23-year-old, who joined La Paillade from Norwegian club Lillestrom last week, showed his attacking prowess by netting a brace in his first appearance. Montpellier had gone behind early but Adams drew his new team level in the 58th minute with a powerful header.
He then capitalised on a through ball from Kiki Kouyate just two minutes later, showing composure to finish into the bottom corner. However, Le Havre scored again to finish the game with 2-2, thanks to a late equaliser from Samuel Grandsir.
Adams’ eye-catching contribution was recognised as he was named in Ligue 1’s Team of the Week – the only Montpellier player to earn the honour. His inclusion comes after an impressive goal-scoring record last season, netting 15 times in the Norwegian top flight.
The striker will be hoping to continue his goal streak when La Paillade travel to Lyon on August 19. With his clinical finishing on display, Akor Adams has announced himself in Ligue 1. Montpellier will be hoping their new signing can fire them up the table this season.
