January 10, (THEWILL) – The Supreme Court, on Wednesday, dismissed the joint appeal filed before it by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its candidate in the March 18th gubernatorial election in Adamawa State, Umar Ardo, seeking to nullify the victory of Ahmadu Fintiri in the guber poll.
This came after counsel for the appellants prayed the court to grant the application for withdrawal of the case.
A five-member panel of the apex court, led by Justice John Okoro, dismissed the appeal on Wednesday, after granting the prayers of the appellants to withdraw their case.
The appellants had prayed the apex court to quash the ruling of the Appeal Court in Abuja, which earlier upheld the judgement of the Adamawa State Election Petition Tribunal that affirmed the election of Ahmadu Fintiri as the duly elected Governor.
