May 01, (THEWILL) – Fresh reports around Manchester United’s search for a striker have emerged linking the English club to a potential move for Tammy Abraham, as they explore alternatives to Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.
United scouts were spotted observing Abraham during his recent match with Roma, as the team’s recruitment department continues their search for a world-class striker in the summer transfer window.
Although a move for Abraham may not come cheap, United are keen to have options this summer, with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen also linked as a potential alternative to Kane. However, Abraham’s buyback clause of €80 million (£70m) with Chelsea could complicate matters, as it would allow the Blues to bring the 25-year-old back to west London this summer if they so desire.
Nevertheless, with Kane’s future at his north London side mired in uncertain waters, Manchester United are not prepared to engage in a bidding war with a famously stubborn negotiator like Spurs’ President, Daniel Levy, who is under enormous pressure with the way the management of their season appears to have buckled so far.
The Red Devils will be depending on the talent-identifying nose of Erik ten Hag as they actively explore all available options in their search for a world-class striker to marshal their 2023/2024 campaign at home and in Europe.
