April 28, (THEWILL) – The abducted Federal Commissioner with the National Population Commission (NPC), in Bayelsa State, Gloria Izonfuo, has regained her freedom.

Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the development on Friday.

“Yes, she was released this morning (Friday). An investigation is still ongoing to apprehend the kidnappers and make them face justice,” Iringe-Koko said.

Mrs Izonfuo, a former Head of Service in Bayelsa State was abducted at the Ogbakiri junction in Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State, while returning from a trip in Brass, Bayelsa state, last Sunday. She was kidnapped alongside her driver and maid.

However, Iringe-Koko when asked if Mrs Izonfuo’s driver and maid were also freed, said, “Okay, I will get back to you on that.”

Details on the development are still sketchy as THEWILL could not ascertain if any ransom was paid.
