Kwankwaso Expands Social Media Presence Ahead Of 2027

Kwankwaso’s entry into TikTok comes as the NDC intensifies preparations for the 2027 presidential election, in which he is expected to contest as the running mate to the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

In announcing his arrival on the platform, Kwankwaso said he intended to use the account to provide followers with direct information about his daily activities and the latest updates. He also urged users to share his videos and activate notifications to receive updates.

The announcement invites Nigerians to connect with him through the video-sharing platform as he prepares for the next general election.

Kwankwaso previously served as governor of Kano State and was the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 general election. His Kwankwasiyya movement has a strong presence in Kano and other parts of northern Nigeria.

Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, contested the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the Labour Party.

The two politicians joined the NDC in May after leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following consultations over their political future and the party’s zoning arrangement.

Obi was subsequently ratified as the NDC’s presidential candidate at the party’s national convention on May 30, while Kwankwaso was named as his running mate.

The ticket brings together Obi’s political support base and Kwankwaso’s Kwankwasiyya movement, combining their respective political networks ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.

Their emergence as the party’s presidential and vice-presidential candidates followed consultations over their political future and the NDC’s zoning arrangement.
