2023: We’re Not Merging With APC, Others – LP

May 23, (THEWILL) – Labor Party has declared that it is not merging with the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) or any other political party, ahead the 2023 general elections in the country.

National Publicity Secretary of LP, Comrade Abayomi Arabambi, disclosed this while unveiling new executive members of the party in Abeokuta, Ogun State, to steer the affairs of the party for the next three years.

Arabambi, who stated that the party’s decision of not merging with APC or other political parties was the position of its National Executive Committee (NEC), to make sure the party contests for elective positions in the country come 2023.

The Publicity Secretary maintained that the party would not entertain politicians who wants to buy the party’s integrity with money, insisting that anyone entertaining such ideas should bury them.

Arabambi, while congratulating the new Ogun State Executive, said that LP was ready to contest with the ruling APC, adding that the party would come out with a strong governorship candidate to contest with Governor Dapo Abiodun in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state

He said, “We are going to contest gubernatorial election in 2023. Any one who thinks he has money, this party is not a party that can be bought and if there is any one here nursing that ambition, it is death on arrival. I want everyone of you to know that we are not joining any party.

“I am saying it categorically, that is the decision of the National Executive Committee of Labour Party. Yes, we don’t have N100,000 that they are paying for nominations, but we have our integrity, that is why I want everybody to know that we are challenging Governor Dapo Abiodun in Ogun State”, he noted

Earlier, the new LP Chairman in the state, Michael Ashade, said that the birth of the new LP executive would unseat Abiodun and ruling APC and bring to pass the yearning and aspirations of the people come 2023 elections.

He said, “the political landscape of Ogun State has witnessed a great dawn, this congress has birth the machinery that will remove all stumbling blocks, all oppositions that have been depriving our people of democracy.

“Our people have been deprived of the rightful dividend that should accrue to them, but today, the team that will unseat them come May 29, 2023, have been given birth to, because we are a force that no one can be able to resist, what is inside of us is to bring to pass the yearnings and aspirations of the people”, he added.
